This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Vylt. If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the App.

1. Privacy Philosophy (Important)

Vylt is designed to be a local-only, offline, zero-knowledge application.

This means:

• We do not require accounts.
• We do not operate servers to store your data.
• We do not have access to your encrypted files.
• We do not know what content you store in the App.

Your privacy is protected primarily through architecture, not policy promises.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Vylt does not collect, transmit, or store:

• Your files, photos, videos, or documents
• Encryption keys, passcodes, or recovery phrases
• File names, file contents, or thumbnails
• Personal identifiers (name, address, phone number, contacts)
• Account credentials (Vylt does not use accounts)
• Location data
• Browsing history

Your encrypted content remains on your device unless you explicitly export it.

3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Vylt stores certain information locally on your device to function:

3.1 Encrypted Content

• Files you import are encrypted and stored locally.
• Encryption keys are generated and stored using device security mechanisms (e.g., Android Keystore).

3.2 App Configuration

• Vault settings
• Security preferences
• Acceptance of Terms & Conditions
• Feature configuration flags

This data is stored locally and is not transmitted to us.

4. Backups and Exports (User-Initiated)

If Vylt provides encrypted backup or export functionality:

• Backups are created only at your request
• Backup files are stored where you choose
• Backup passphrases are chosen and managed by you
• We do not receive or store backup files or passphrases

If you lose your backup passphrase or backup file, we cannot recover your data.

5. No Monitoring or Content Access

Vylt:

• Does not scan files
• Does not analyze content
• Does not perform content moderation
• Does not transmit encrypted or decrypted content

We have no ability to view or retrieve your stored data.

6. Network Activity

Vylt is designed to function offline.

However:

• Your device's operating system, app store, or third-party system services may independently collect data.
• If you enable optional system-level services (e.g., OS crash reporting, Play Store diagnostics), those services are governed by their own privacy policies.

Vylt does not control these external systems.

7. Analytics and Telemetry

Vylt does not include third-party analytics SDKs for tracking user behavior.

If limited diagnostics are used in the future (for example, to identify app crashes), they will:

• Avoid collecting personal data
• Avoid collecting file content
• Be disclosed in an updated Privacy Policy

Where required by law, your consent will be requested.

8. Children's Privacy

Vylt is not directed toward children under the age required by applicable law to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Because Vylt does not use accounts or collect personal data, we generally cannot identify user age.

9. Legal Compliance and Law Enforcement

Because Vylt is a zero-knowledge, offline app:

• We do not have access to user data
• We cannot provide encrypted content to third parties
• We cannot decrypt or retrieve user files

If legally compelled, we can only provide information we actually possess, which is limited to basic app distribution or support communications (if any).

10. Data Retention

We do not retain user data because we do not collect it.

Any data stored by Vylt exists only on your device and remains there until you delete it, uninstall the App, or clear app data.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights related to personal data.

Because Vylt does not collect or store personal data:

• There is typically no data for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf.
• You control your data entirely on your device.

12. Security

Vylt uses encryption and secure storage techniques designed to protect data on your device. However:

• No system is completely immune to compromise
• Device security is your responsibility
• Rooted, jailbroken, or compromised devices may weaken protection

We do not guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

If material changes are made:

• We may present the updated policy in-app
• Continued use may require acceptance of the updated policy
• The "Effective Date" will be updated accordingly.
